We’re living in a time when the world is facing major catastrophic events. The world has become corrupt, as many have rebelled against God. Since the beginning, mankind has been given a trial period to live a life obedient to God, and therefore, we’re living on borrowed time. With the allotted time we have on earth, God instructs us through His Word, to train our souls in righteousness to become fit for eternity.
The foundation of God’s throne is righteousness and justice (Psalm 89:14) . As Supreme judge over all creation, God will judge the world. The good news is that God appointed Jesus Christ to be the payment for our sins for those who repent and receive Jesus into their hearts. Check out this powerful Scripture below!
For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thess. 9:5)
That being said, we all have an opportunity to respond to God’s plan of salvation for mankind. Understand that this world is but a gateway into eternity. God’s kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, in which we must respond and conform to God’s way for obtaining righteousness. Placing faith in the Messiah is our only hope for a world that is spiraling out of control. Let’s look at this key Scripture.
Having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation (a particular time) of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ , both which are in heaven and which are on earth- in Him (Ephesians 1:9).
Notice the Scripture says, “that in the fullness of the times”. So, imagine a line of time throughout all the ages of mankind. In comparison, our lifespan on this earth is just a small blip along the ages of the line of the times. So rather Christ return in your lifetime or not, you still have to make a choice rather to follow Him or not.
Based on the signs of the times, we know that Christ return is very close. Jesus said to the Pharisees and Sadducees , “You can discern the signs of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times (Matt 16:3).”
Listen, we’re living in a time when things happening in the world are unprecedented. In other words, things are happening all over the world that people have never seen or heard of before. Let’s look at this next Scripture.
And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences (epidemic disease), and earthquakes in various places. (Matt 24:6)
So again, we’re talking about discerning the signs of the times. Now, I’m not here to tell you when the world will end. However, I’m here to encourage you to be ready for Christ return at all times. We have to get our house in order and avoid taking God’s love and patience for granted.
God’s love requires holiness in the way that He instructs us to live. Moreover, He empowers us to do so by the power of the Holy Spirit and His Word. Scripture admonishes us not to become like the foolish virgins in Matt 25. The foolish virgins slumbered and slept. Why? They thought they had more time. Therefore, let us awaken from spiritual slumber. For the return of our Lord’s second coming is near!
